Description

The Tone Horse is a furniture project I did while a graduate student at the University of Oregon for a studio on children's furniture. The Tone Horse is a bench with a tounge drum (a tonal percussive wood drum) suspended in the middle. The configuration allows for two people to play the drum at once. The bench portion is made from Kaya wood and the to of the tounge drum is made from Padauk wood, a tripical hardwood that is known for its resonance and tonal qualities.
